Perfect for developing German language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising numbers 0-31 in German - there are 12 differentiated questions, answer key and recording sheet. I’ve found that Christmas is a great time to revisit language we started with a couple of months before, and these are ideal for that. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities.
Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocab, but throughout the year as starters and refreshers. The goal is not simply to learn and practise how to count in German, but also to enjoy working with language, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! I use the cards with my Primary German, and also my KS3 German learners. I’ve used a range of Christmas-theme images as visual clues for learners, Knecht Ruprecht and Weihnachtsmann - most of the questions are in German, so it’s really important to give learners appropriate support, and they’re great for stimulating discussion about German Christmas traditions and vocabulary. There’s a colour set, and also a blackline set.

The Christmas-theme cards work really well for revision and practice - my students find the snowman cards fun and motivating! There are 198 matching German and English vocabulary cards, which is definitely quite a bit of prep. I always laminate my vocabulary cards, they are far more learner-friendly, and last for absolutely years, so it’s worth the extra prep time and expense.
There a lots of different games students can play entirely independently, and I’ve outlined a selection that work well for us. My students really like to work together, in pairs or in small groups, moving away from more teacher-led activities. The games enable them to practice and consolidate their key beginner German vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, and they really do create a lively language learning environment. Students can have either an entire set, depending on the size of their learning group, or particular collections of cards, according to the vocabulary theme. I’ve described the set as not grade-specific, because the content depends on the particular learning stage your students have reached, or are working towards.
The vocabulary in this set focuses on:
die Tiere (indefinite article, all singular)
die Körperteile (definite article, range of singular and plural)
das Wetter
Obst und Gemüse (definite article)

These are whole-group lively & communicative language learning games, ideal for practising, reinforcing and consolidating 99 high-frequency French verbs. The games have a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. They’re perfect for pronunciation practice too. Active learning is a really successful way of developing both language skills and general confidence. The Christmas-theme is really popular around the holidays. The verbs are in the infinitive form, and the aim of the games is to create a French verb chain as quickly as possible.
There are two games, each with a slightly different challenge:
Challenge 1: verbs are in alphabetical order, with the question and answer format: J’ai… Qui a… ?
Challenge 2: verbs are in random order, with the question and answer format: As-tu… ? Oui/Non, j’ai…
In both challenges, the English translation of the verb appears immediately below the French verbs, which maximises opportunity for really embedding vocabulary. The game works just as well if the cards are placed on a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the games for my advanced beginner French learners, who are ready to move towards intermediate French, but I’ve also played them with my more advanced learners, who really enjoy ’going back to the start’ and having the opportunity to get up, walk about and talk - the games definitely provide some essential variety in learning activities.
There is an alphabetical French-English verb list, featuring all the verbs used in the game. This is useful as a longer-term reference resource too.

The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Italian. The questions range in complexity and challenge in terms of language and calculation, though they are designed for advanced beginner Italian language learners, who will generally be more advanced in their maths skills.
The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. All the questions are in Italian, which really helps students develop language awareness skills, use their prior learning to progress current learning, and encouraging them to infer meaning from context.

297 high-frequency German verbs in the infinitive form. They offer an interactive and communicative alternative to 'traditional' vocabulary and grammar drilling activities. The games and activities really do help to create a lively and multi-skill language learning environment. My students have always really enjoyed working and learning independently with each other, and found it a really successful way of embedding vocabulary.
The alphabetical German-English reference lists of all 297 verbs work well as a year-round learning support resource. The cards are versatile, and can be used for a number of language learning games; I’ve described several games and activities that have worked well with my students. They're great for a ready-made quick vocabulary quiz too. The game card template lets students to apply their knowledge of German verbs a little more practically as they create cards for each other.
There are 3 differentiated recall challenges:
Written Recall Challenge One: students recall and write the English verb from a German verb prompt. The verbs are in alphabetical order.
Written Recall Challenge Two: again, students recall and write the English verb from a German verb prompt, though the German verbs are in random, rather than alphabetical order. Students do often learn new vocabulary in alphabetical order, so it's important to work on recall in random order too.
Written Recall Challenge Three: this challenge gives an English prompt, and students recall and write the corresponding German verb, which engages their recall slightly differently, and is a great way of perfecting spelling too.
I give my students regular opportunities to revisit the games and workbooks, and to note their progress on the Notes and Next Steps template. We use this to reflect on learning and progress, and to set targets - It's a really successful way of embedding vocabulary, and of mapping progress. Students also note any new verbs they learn, helping them build a really impressive verb vocabulary bank. It's a really useful tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning, which is a really popular activity too.
The cards do take some prep – printing, laminating and cutting out. It's really worth the effort though, as the cards last for years! Each workbook has 18 pages, and is print and photocopy.

There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, with answer keys and verbs lists. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they're really versatile, and ideal for KS3 French students who are getting to grips with conjugation in French, and beginning to work with compound sentences and texts. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I've found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. I've included a couple of -GER and -CER verbs to ensure students are able to practice the addition of an E and Ç in the present tense nous form - I've found that students do need a little extra help with those.

I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, so the focus on the auxiliary sein with this workbook helps to embed this concept, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully.

I find answer keys really essential, as they provide students with additional opportunity to engage with language.
I've been using the workbooks for a long time, and found they work best when I give my students regular and frequent chances to revisit the workbooks, including noting their thoughts on the Notes and Next Steps template. That really does help them to focus on their progress. We also use the template to guide and inform whole-group discussions about German conjugation in particular and German grammar in general. Even my advanced students get the chance to go 'back to the beginning' and work quickly through the conjugations, just to be sure that they have really grasped the concept. I use the workbooks as classwork, as homework, as 'free choice' resources, holiday refresher and revision work, and also as focused activities for sub lessons. They really do work well in a broad range of contexts.
The verbs groups are:

- irregular and mixed verbs
- regular and irregular separable verbs
- regular and irregular reflexive verbs
- regular and irregular high-frequency verbs
- verbs taking sein in the perfect tense

I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Spanish, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their Spanish vocabulary books, or file them in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning.
For young and / or beginner Spanish learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows o’clock on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Spanish prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I use for Spanish vocabulary display, or plain.

I use word searches a lot in my languages classroom - they're ideal for encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, and for building vocabulary. The grids are differentiated to ensure increasing challenge. The word searches are really useful when introducing the concept of verb conjugation in French - we do lots of comparison with English, and discuss both similarities and differences - this helps students think about patterns and how languages work in general.
There are 5 French-French grids, and 5 English-French grids - this gets students applying French a little differently. There's additional consolidation too, as I've put a verb list in each grid that students have to complete. I always give answer keys - for me, that's an essential part of the learning - they give students an extra opportunity to engage with language, and they really enjoy checking their own and each others' work.

Ideal for Primary French Immersion and beginner French students of all ages and stages, providing them with a great opportunity to engage with the written word in French, at the same time developing essential beginner French vocabulary. They are easily differentiated too: the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class.
This list is a first collection of 25 high-frequency French adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner French into intermediate French learning programs - it’s an important step in language learning to ensure that students quickly develop a useful French adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognize French adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at adjectival agreement, producing more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning. The purpose of the list isn’t to simply learn all 25 adjectives by rote: it’s a longer-term reference resource that students use for example when they’re writing creatively, preparing written texts, or working with their talk partner to develop speaking skills. My students also use their vocabulary reference lists to help them audit their developing French vocabulary in general.
There are two alphabetical lists - one French-English, and one English-French, as I’ve found that most language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag (which is good for French vocabulary display), and plain white.

There are 198 cards in total, and although it’s time-consuming, it’s definitely worth the time to laminate the cards, as they’re far sturdier, and last for years! I give my students a vocab workbook too, and this one has 3 differentiated challenges, as well as a full alphabetical French-English list, which we use as a year-round reference resource as well. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges in the workbook - my students really benefit from writing out vocabulary independently, and at their own pace - I often give multiple workbooks over a school year - it’s a really successful way of consolidating vocab, as well as practising spelling. There’s a card template too - students enjoy creating game/quiz cards for each other, applying their knowledge in a different way.
Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word /phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category
Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words/phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category
Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category - I’ve found that this really does encourage my students to think hard about their French vocab.
